Guys I pick up this grinder cause I felt I needed it,but now what? Really, I purchase it to grind HSS once I get it rough to size and shape and I was wondering if inserts can be sharpen on this grinder with the proper wheels? So I was wondering if someone could recommend wheels for sharpening HSS and maybe if inserts? Yea I do have the tables and the little miter gage but no drain pans came with it. I tried to watch Youtubes on how to use these grinders and anything on wheels but nothing come up. If should know of any links to some information these grinders and what they can do please share and any links to the kind of wheels that I should have would be nice.I did find little info on CBN wheels which runs almost 200.00 but from what I understand they are a one time purchase will last life time. But are they for HSS or carbide, and what grit if that is the wheel to have. Thanks guys for guiding me again

for roughing HSS an 60 or 80 grit gray wheel is just fine
for finer grinding, a white 100 grit white wheel is very nice.

when i ground the small tools for you, i had a CBN 150 grit wheel on the grinder- it worked very well on HSS for the finishing grind

there are some diamond wheels that come up on ebay, now and again.
i have run both the cheap and more expensive diamond wheels.
you'll never go wrong with nice wheels, but i have had more than decent luck with surprisingly cheap wheels.
Norton was the best name i can come up with, but they aren't what they used to be-
still very good, but moved operations to Mexico i believe.

i'm sure others will have something to say on the subject as well...

Try Shars for the wheels. I put a CBN - 6x1" D6A2C CBN Plain Cup Wheel SKU: 504-2220 $99 on one side and diamond - 6x1" D6A2C Diamond Plain Cup Wheel SKU: 505-2220 on the other $48.90 side. Both have been excellent.

My grinder is a Baldor clone from Enco/harbor freight. The wheels run true without vibration.
