Why men wear earrings...

renderTimingPixel.png

A man is at work one day when he notices that his co-worker is wearing an earring. The guy knows his co-worker to be a normally conservative fellow, and is curious about his sudden change in "fashion sense." He walks up to him and says, "I didn't know you were into earrings."
"Don't make such a big deal, it's only an earring," he replies sheepishly.
His friend falls silent for a few minutes, but then his curiosity prods him to ask, "So, how long have you been wearing one?"
"Ever since my wife found it in my truck."

Ouch! This strikes home.

Some fifteen years ago, I promised to make a headboard for my wife. I drew up a design and my wife approved it. With the help of a neighbor, we cut a butternut tree and sawed it into boards and I stickered them up in the hay mow to dry.

Now, in my defense there have been numerous projects that have somehow had a higher priority. A full kitchen rebuild with custom cabinets, a new roof on the house, rewiring the 110 y.o. farmhouse, converting the attic space into a living space, all new windows outside and inside trim, new floors in the full 1st floor, a new furnace, not to mention all the outbuilding and grounds projects......the list goes on.

Anyway, I am finally back to working on the headboard and if all goes well, should have it finished in a week. The details will be presented in another thread..:pickaxe:

Long ago, I was a serious sailor. Both military and commercial.(marine electrician) I have crossed the Date Line and Equator, at the same time. Known to the craft as a "Golden Shellback". . . And crossed the Antarctic Circle ([movie?] 77 South) along with several NZ boy scouts. Along with (indirect) hosting the Astronauts for their tour of McMurdo in 1969. I lack the Prime Meridian and Arctic Circle to be a "Square Knot Sailor". But after 50 odd years, still consider some traditions to be sacred. Although I rate several earrings, I don't wear any because of the shock hazards. At my age, and modern styles (or lack of) I wouldn't consider it beyond wishful thinking.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story :)
In response to that knowledge, Pop had the Stude for several years. He may have relocated the OD control because of his disability. His dealing with the clutch was to use a "belly strap". That could have interfered with his use of OD. I honestly don't remember that incident beyond the wild ride. But I do remember around age 5 jumping into a discussion with Pop's friend about something under the driver's seat. Actually devising a surge brake, but that isn't part of the conversation.
