REBUILT A SPINDLE CHUCK
Finally got around to rebuilding the Jacobs 58B spindle chuck that came with the Logan. When I got it, it was a mess: the sleeve was
cracked and broken, and when I got inside I found that someone had taken a grinder to the threads on the jaws - I assume because
they didn't know about their assembly order. So, I've been looking for parts and finally found a good deal on an NOS sleeve off
of fleaBay, and, thanks to solo I was able to obtain the parts kit for the jaws and split nut. A bit of de-burring and a clean and grease
session got it working smoothly.
Here it is on the lathe, with it's stable mate the 59B that I rebuild a couple of years ago. The two give me a nice range of sizes.

Isn't the reward of good wood work worth the effort!!! I love the way natural grain has beauty. I too like the wine holder.

Very productive weekend:
Made a coil in a lathe and recorded a small video
And since I was with cam on hand, showed my leadscrew reverser too
On welding department, I've made a motorcycle clutch holding tool

I had two POTD and wanted to share incase someone else had similar issues. The firs POTD was to replace a vacuum breaker (leaking after 20 years) on a flush-mate power flush toilet (shop toilet).
The part ( BU100505-K) was found on Amazon for $8.95 (OEM). To replace the entire system would have ran $150-170ish. Amazon is amazing!
The second POTD was to replace the intermediate steering shaft bearing on our 05 GMC 2500HD. This has been on my radar for some time now.
I also found the part on Amazon for under $20. The OEM bearing (white) fails fairly quickly resulting in a clunk when turning over uneven road surfaces. A very common problem found on 2000-2010 GM rigs.
The part Doorman 905-512 (green).
The bearing indexes into the outer upper steering column outer tube.
A very tight fit but it does slip over the upper steering shaft. Light silicone grease was applied on the ID of the new bearing.
Tip: Lash your steering wheel to prevent over rotation that can damage your function switches. Also lash in a position that allows a straight shot to the bolt head.
New bearing installed. Notice the easy access to the bolt. With the steering wheel in the neutral position, the bolt head is 90º agents the bracket to the top of the photo.
Amazon is amazing, fast cheap and convenient.
