Sorry, more wood.
Thought I'd try being a cooper. The staves are sawed inside and outside to get the curve rather than bent.

The jig I used on the bandsaw to get a 48 inch radius.

Now to make bands. Thinking maybe the steel banding for lumber piles but silver older the joint rather than the normal crimp on joiner.

Nice Job, Now if only a guy had some copper pipe and some copper tubing, a big kettle, thermometer, turkey fryer, corn , sugar and some turbo yeast;).

Some years back I bought one of the old cutoff barrels they sell. I put some goldfish and a very small pump in it to make a little fountain next to a rock in the back yard. My neighbor asked me if it was difficult. I told him making the fountain was easy; the hard part was drinking the fifty gallons of whiskey to get the barrel.

I wonder what sort of flavour the Butternut wood would add. Humm

I had the chance to cut some Delrin for the first time. A buddy wanted some pistons for his RC cars cut. A neighbor is a machinist, and a few days ago he asked if I wanted his cut-offs (uh, that would be a "yes"). In the cut-offs I picked up was some Delrin. Since those pistons had been requested, I measured them up, and cut some. They were supposed to be 12mm pistons, but measured in at about 11.8mm - so I knew I had some leeway on getting it turned down.

They didn't turn out too badly (I matched with a 0.003" over) outside diameter. Then, I decided to finish my brass pens :

Unfortunately, I put the clear coat on too thick, so I ended up with a glob on one of them. However, for something I bored out of a brass rod and turned down to final dimensions, the pens turned out pretty nice. They are heavier than normal pens, but feel amazing.

I got to use my mill and my lathe today. I performed a gashing process on my test aluminum worm gear blank. (The set-up was kind-of Rube -Goldberg). Anyway, the process itself worked good, unfortunately I put the gashes in the wrong orientation . I attempted to do the hobbing operation anyway using my previously built hob. Even with the bad gashing the gear came out pretty good. Definitely learned things for when I make the final part (in more expensive brass). The hob worked better than I expected! Fun day.
