How can you navigate quicker through all the pages of this thread?

I'm trying to read them all from the beginning but jumping 2 pages at a time to get to the point you left off is a bit tedious!

i got a 2 lb bag of water beads to add to a 35gal. drum with water as required to make them swell up to about 1/2" diameter. melted up a few crucibles of aluminum and did a couple of "pours" into the solution. very interesting results. then i melted some brass and did the same thing, into the tub of these little balls. again, interesting results. here's some of what i ended up with. . . cool, eh ?

Reminds me somewhat of the aluminum castings of ant mounds I've seen. Very cool.

Finished the last four solid engine mounts for my bike:



Nothing quite as satisfying as making your own parts instead of buying them.

And I seem to be getting reasonably good at some of the basic turning skills.....

A simple solution to a common problem!

Thanks for this idea, I have one identical that is worthless, YUASA with a broken work gear a no parts available to repair.
I know what I'll do with it now when I find where I put it 10 years ago.

More work on the box and organization.

Got the drawer trim on....





A little tidying up in the drawers....



Stripped the vertical trim of the half-a$$ paint and chrome tape....





DA sanded and used Aluma-Hyde II epoxy paint as a base coat







Now let it dry, and try to find a decent looking "anodized alumminum" for the top coat of trim paint..... getting impatient... lol

Cool indeed, but very strange looking, too! How did the (wet?) beads react to the molten metal? I'd 'a thunk there would have been a fantastic steam eruption, or that the most of beads would have floated to the surface. Lots of odd things going on there. Now to find a use/customer for your very artistic sculptures ...

PS - what is it the "water beads" were originally intended for????

had to come up with a belt attachment..put a 1/2 slot through the 7/8 rod added set screws and a block to squeeze the belt...
