Very nice looking fj, don't see those around here in Michigan.

Thanks, she's originally from Arizona. I'm third owner and have been catching up on overdue maintenance and fixing other folks ideas of "good fixes". I suspect many 40's in your region are probably rusted. She still sports her original paint, though faded.
The seal that was leaking was put in cockeyed and one of the spider gears was missing a shim/washer resulting in excess slop. She's quiet, tight, dry and back on the road.

For those who do not remember their hippy days, or just didn't participate, a ziltch was a plastic dry cleaner's bag tied in a bunch of knots and hung from a tree branch with a coat hanger wire hook. You lit the bottom of it and it burned fairly slowly, melting the plastic which dripped in decorative and entertaining fashion — making a distinctive "Zoooop"sound.

Hi Franko,

Never heard of or seen that before, interesting. However, I do remember something similar.
I needed to use heat to loosen a flex brake line on the front wheel of my old Jeep.
Once I finally got it loose and opened the connection brake fluid dripped and caught fire as it passed thru the hot fitting.
I distinctly remember the "zooop.......zooop" sound as those flaming drips went passed my head.....a little too close for comfort.

Thanks brino,
I try real hard to pick up every day after working. Machining is the worst when it comes to cleaning as I usually have one of my GSD pay me a visit at the end of the day so swarf and hell hounds don't mix. Saturdays are reserved for mopping the hanger haha! Its the spiders and some scorpions I have a struggle with, apperantly they like to hang out as well.
