i Purchased a 3 axis IGaging EZ-View DRO kit,
it had a 24", 12" and 6" scales in the kit.

the part is considered consumable by the manufacturer, so i get about 6 or 7 of these castings a year on average
i have used the aluminum for all kinds of beating devices and press plates and spacers.
this time a clamping pallet...

i want to make some T nuts for my shaper's rotary table
I thought for a first project to plane a piece of aluminum on 5 sides.
(i planed 5 sides because one side was milled flat on a vertical mill)
i was successful at making a rectangle.
it is the uncut diamond!

I just received happiness in the mail today!

if you breathe on it, you may just get a reading!
the price was too low to mention :anon:
I'm finally in the metal shaper club!
i was told by member and good friend Bob Korves about a metal shaper that was available.
it just so happened that i took Richard King's scraping class in 2013 with the guy that was selling the shaper!
go figure- it's a small world.
after a few digital...
I work on many pieces of equipment that frequently need seals installed due to an extreme climate they somehow survive in.
One seal in particular more than others, a 25x62x10
the problem with this seal is that is mounted to a shaft, then the seal is driven into it's bore,
but it has to be driven...
i scanned a carbide insert chart that i keep in my shop reference binder.
maybe it may help others out in identifying stray inserts.

I needed a rack for my R8 toolholders and collets.
so i looked around the shop to see what i had to make a collet rack from.
sure, i could have just bought a commercially made rack- but what is the fun in that???
i started off with a hunk of reclaimed 1/4" polycarbonate that i just couldn't...

just because you put a coat of paint on the headstock doesn't mean it's rebuilt.
oil was not considered important to the owner/user, seen in the tracks laid by the carriage grinding into the ways for nearly the entire length.
see picture 4...
i was making some delrin spacers yesterday for a small meat grinder.
i made an arbor from a 3/4" pvc slip fitting to make facing and parting cuts.
here is the video of the facing operation.
thanks for watching!
The acquisition of this Trans World Steel VHM-728, Vetrical/Horizontal Milling Machines was a comedy of errors.
I was informed of the pristine milling machine by fellow member dlane.
he made contact with the supposed owner and made an appointment to talk to him at 2:00 sunday afternoon.
