Would hydraulic cement work to fill a drill press column?

I think it may lead to corrosion where it contacts metal due to moisture and or Ph level.
I just looked it up after posting this and it seems hydraulic cement is modified Portland cement so most likely would not be suitable for filling machines.

Cement is alkaline and will not corrode iron. It is a form of hydrated limestone. Think of the cleaning tanks engine rebuild shops used to have. The active ingredient in the water was lye. Very bad for aluminum, but it doesn't affect iron.

The rust damage seen in outdoor concrete structures is due to the porosity of concrete and subsequent penetration by water.

Thanks for pointing that out I should have figured that out myself as steel is what they reinforce concrete with. Guess I wasn't thinking
