I love my horizontal mill it has way more rigidity than my bridgeport, I can run very deep .25"+ cuts with my face mill and the Hmill just laughs at me. Mine has a rack and pinion X axis that can be pretty scary sometimes but I can do anything on it that can be done on a Bridgeport.
Horizontal mills can do things that are impossible or difficult on a vertical mill, and has been stated above, are more powerful, and generally have power feeds in all directions, if they have vertical attachments, even better! Buy it, already!
