What did I get here? *HSS tool bits*

Stellite: this stuff is the devil in my industry. I think it's actually outlawed. Makes wicked awesome valve seats
VR/Wesson Tantung G: Some kind of chromium, tungsten, columbium and carbon in a cobalt matrix. Not a HSS or Carbide. Probably alien technology similar to Stellite
Stellite and Tatung G are both 'cast alloy' steels. Quite different from regular high speed steel. Before carbide became widely available, it seems like these exotic alloys were the 'next big thing' in turning tools. Tools from cast alloy can be used at roughly twice the surface feet per minute that HSS is capable of. Also tend to handle shock better than carbide.

$1 per pound? I'm happy to pay $5/stick for MoMax 3/8" here.

There's a tradition here on H-M when you get a deal like that:

:you suck:

I would love to get my hands on some of that Tantung. You don't find that every day.
