I am trying to understand how the vice works. It is a
PM 5 Inch High Precision Milling Vise w/Swivel Base
I have taken 10 measurements both RT and LFT from the top of the fixed jaw to the interior base. There is a .005" dependency RT to LFT. The description says "Precision Ground Surfaces to .0006″ " I really do not know what to expect. Can anyone comment on this?

Have you taken it apart and checked it for burrs? It doesn't take much between the vise bed and the fixed jaw to jack things up, seriously a hair drifting into it during assembly can throw it off that much.

Also, the measurement from the top of the fixed jaw does not matter that much; measurement from the base to the top of bed of the vise is what is important, that is where the work is seated.

I have not taken it apart. Will do. I now realize that the fixed jaw does not mater that much Thanks. All is good. I did check the bed of the vice to the base and all is good there.

Tram your mill table in, then tram the vise bed, if there's a problem it should show up as difference between the 2
