I want to convert my small milling machine to 1.5HP 3PHASE with a VFD. I see there are 120V single phase to 230V three phase, and 230V single phase to 230V three phase

I have both 120 and 230V in the shop......Is there an advantage of one VFD input voltage over the other......???

Thanks!

Go with 230 to 230, as the line amperage draw will be 1/2 that of 120 VAC. Smaller gauge wire/breaker needed for the input at 230VAC and 2Hp 230 VFD will be far more common and less expensive than a 120 to 230VAC version (excludes the generic Chinese VFD's).

I second that. Go with the higher voltage VFD, less current draw, less issues.

That is what I though......Higher Voltage = Less current.

Thanks a million!
