I have some quick change CNC toolholders that are stamped "Light Machines US Patent 4,902,177"
The patent is here. Figure 7 exactly matches the R8 holder installed in my Light Machines mill and Figure 8 matches the holder I have (images below).
Light Machines was a 1990s vendor of CNC mills for the educational/vocational training market based in New Hampshire.
There is no indication in the patent that the inventor was an employee of theirs. It's possible they bought the patent outright or alternatively just licensed it.
I was curious if anyone has ever seen this style of holder produced by other companies?
I'm obviously aware I can change the entire setup over to a different R8 quick change like the Royal but that's not the question i'm asking.
