I need a 220 to 440 transformer for a small surface grinder. It can't be switched to 220.
Thanks Ron in Ohio

Is that a 3 phase machine? And do you have 3 phase power available?

There should be a few used machinery dealers that would have electrical equipment and transformers near you.
There is a place called HGR I seem to remember in Ohio. I think.

240-480 is a common size in industrial applications. It shouldn't be difficult to find one. One important issue to keep in mind is that whatever the rating of the machine at 480 volts will be double for the 240 volt feed. i.e. If the machine is rated as 10 amps, the line side will be 20 amps. Requiring a 25 amp minimum feeder circuit.
.

I've seen them on ebay and industrial auctions for cheap.

As recommended, look for used machinery companies in your area. You don't want to have to ship these and you may get more for you money.

Where in Ohio are you at? What Kva are you looking for?

I live 10 minutes from HGR, place is great. They always have a selection of transformers, although small ones are less common than the big monsters. Worth taking a look if you are in driving distance.
