1) Do not post your personal information publicly in the Trading Post. Scammers target trading post threads for unsuspecting people who are in a state of mind where they are ready to trade or buy - in other words, they will try to get your money and you are in this thread because you are all ready willing to make a deal.

2) Know who you are dealing with. Use the Private Messaging or Conversation system made available to you here at Hobby Machinist. If at all possible, get the person to speak with you on the phone. Scammers are unlikely to do that. Once on the phone, you will get a better sense of who you are dealing with and get verifiable information from the potential trader/seller once they are on the phone.

3) Although you certainly may be, listing items in Trading Post alone does not require that you be a Gold Donor or above. The only restriction WRT dollars is that you cannot sell anything here - trades only. The only allowable mention of Dollars would be shipping cost if that isn't about the same in both directions. But try to avoid having to do that or discuss it in the PM system (called Conversations). If someone offers you cash for something listed here, and you decide to accept, you will have to move the thread to one of the Fora that require Gold Donor status or above.
