Tie Rods

A friend who owns an auto repair shop gave me some Ford tie rods. The largest is about 1.5" in diameter and about 36" long.

It cut quick and easy on the bandsaw. I haven't tried to turn it because I have a collet job on the lathe.

Any idea as to what steel they may be? Uses?
