Tapered Thread Question

not a bad idea, but for the weight consideration. The folks at Carbon Cub (my plane is a plans built model that is similar, but not exact) have a motto, "Every gram has a purpose". the tube affair as drawn by the designer is, believe it or not, a long proven standard used in traditional (tail wheeled) landing gear airplanes. I will use the tube and pipe thread design, but I like Joshua's tabbed washer suggestion. I'll have to look at a factory production airplane of similar weight and see if they use a tabbed washer. I can't remember since it's been well over a year since I've re-packed the bearings on the Cessnas.
