My seneca falls lathe has a dead center and I wanted to add a live center... i have a 31 taper live center but it is too small... i have a 3 1 to #2 atapder , sleeve that the #1 fits nicely in but the sleeve is too large to fit the taper hole in the tail stock ? The lathe is circa 1890 is there a 1 1/2 taper ?????
Thanks

Joe,
There is a 4 1/2 but not a 1 1/2 that I am aware of.
Maybe its a B & S or a Jarno taper?

Cheers Phil

Hi,

If you have a taper that fits your tailstock, why not turn your own sleeve to accomodate the live centre. It may sound daunting, but if you approach it slowly you should get there. Good luck.
