Toluene is a good degreaser, After that, a wash with ether will dry out anything left. A couple of my favorite TIG guys used it.

Toluene is the primary ingredient in Gun wash or some times referred to as recycled paint thinner. A lot of the large auto body shops distill there own waste, it is cheaper that paying for disposal. Toluene is very good at good at removing grease oil and removing all the moisture in your hands, your hands will dry out and crack, they take a while to heal as well.

If you prime make sure to sand thoroughly, paint won't stick if you don't.
