Important Message about the risk of SCAMS in the Trading Post and WTB forums. Scammers will target members who are "wanting to buy" or "willing to trade" in the Trading Post and WTB forums. It is very important that you be very wary of members who:
  • have zero or few posts,
  • won't discuss details in public forum - only in private messages or email
  • have recently joined,
  • have the machine you recently posted about in their signature line or equipment list.
  • are reluctant to talk on the phone,
  • the grammar and language coming through in the messages feels off,
  • are pushy about payment or getting you to commit to pay,
  • do not have their equipment or tools posted in the For Sale Area,
  • are not donating members,
  • provide multiple ways to contact them,
IF you are considering responding to a solicitation to BUY in the Trading Post, or not sure if you should reply to the potential seller - or are ABOUT to send them money to hold the item before you have even seen the item or talked to a real person - STOP and reconsider:
  • have I talked to a real person?
  • have they provided a physical address?
  • have I seen the item first hand?
  • do I feel pressured to do a PayPal or Western Union transaction?
STOP and assess whether this looks like a legit transaction before you hand over your hard earned money.
