I made this belt grinder some time ago. I wanted a small one I could park on the bench for grinding smallish items. I chose 25mm x 762mm belts because there is such a large range of grits available.
The grinder has a steel drive drum and a Delrin idler, with adjustable tracking. Belt tension is via a sliding spring thingy I made, table is adjustable for angle and there is a platen just above the table.

Looks great! What rpm is the motor?

1450 would be my guess as the motor came off one of those cheap linishers. The belt drive drum is upped to probably around 3000 rpm. A little slow, but it works great.

I like quite a few of the things you did except the platten leaning back. While it would be great for relief on cutting tools, squaring up things might be a little annoying having to have it leaned over.

I especially like the table, having the hinge point right at the end of the table makes it quite handy . I found the switch a novel idea.. I hope you ordered multiple switches, they get dust in them and fail over time when you need them most. The size is fantastic.. Very nicely done overall.
