Side to side play in compound rest

Sorry I wasn’t clear before. If I run a dial indicator across the same bar along the bed with my cross slide instead of the compound, there is no discernible movement of the dial. That to me eliminates everything but the compound.

Took things apart last night, pulled off the gibs and the leadscrew nut, and looking underneath while turning the handle, I can see the leadscrew is slightly bent as it rotates around. So it would seem that's my problem. Now I need to straighten in without mucking up any of the threads.

Ok, never mind. The leadscrew was a false alarm because the bushing wasn't snug against it when I was turning it.

Took it apart, cleaned the heck out of it, found some chip buildup that I suspect was the cause. After putting it back together and re-adjusting the gibs, the play is gone. Thanks everyone for the help!
