Sheldon lathe head bearings

What type of bearings did Sheldon use in the 10x24 lathes? I'm thinking tapered roller bearings.

What type of bearings did Sheldon use in the 10x24 lathes? I'm thinking tapered roller bearings.

Sheldon used a mixture of plain bronze bearings, precision ball bearings and tapered roller bearings. For a while a "T" in the serial number denoted Timken roller bearings, but at some point that changed and it indicated a factory taper attachment.
