Considering it is pulling 32 amps, I am thinking 7.5 hp, 40 amp. Would not have to have circuit protection I guess with the breakers in the circuit when I upgrade the circuit to 40 amps.
32 amps at startup or running?
3 times the rated Amp draw is common or higher at startup.
This more or less instantaneous amperage draw should not last long enough to trip the overloads or blow fuses.
Typically the overloads are sized at nameplate amperage.
If you are running and drawing 32 amps I have a contactor with an adjustable overload 22-34 amps
