Hi all,
my little lathe uses W20 collets, it already has a 3 jaw chuck (here few images: https://www.hobby-machinist.com/thr...body-recognize-the-model.105407/#post-1031674)

I already have a series of W20 collets of various sizes that I can mount directly on the spindle.

Now I want to buy a 4 indipendent jaws chucks but I don't understand what to buy exactly, I'm a total noob.

Here I found a 4 jaws chuck with an M14 hole thread:
https://www.rcm-machines.com/en/mac...w-chuck-70-mm-with-m-14-x-1-thread/rc4bfe1470

The question is really stupid but is this what I need to use the above chuck on my lathe? It's a W20 collet with a M14 thread.

The collet would fit into the spindle but is this the correct way to use a "normal" chuck? Sorry again I'm a real noob.

Thanks,

That would work , I had that set up only a 5C taper to a threaded chuck . Normally I would use my D-1 mount on the spindle , it was heavy duty . But I don't think you need HD , I know I didn't need it . It was a fast and precision way for smaller light duty work .
Mark .
