Press Fit of Aluminum

There is no need for any press fitting. Just glue it in with epoxy. I have made a crank for my rotary table in this way. I didn’t even have any set screw

It’s so easy to make press fits, it’s my “go to” connection for lighter duty stuff. 0.001” differential per inch is ok, but .002 with a chamfered shaft end works too. I like steel even better for this. And if you’re concerned, a roll or dowel pin takes care of it.

Just a side thought on making a new crank. Go ahead and make it an inch longer if there is room. The increased leverage will make it easier and nicer to turn.
