Hi Guys,
Could you folks offer up prayers for my wife, Over the last ten weeks, she has been in extreme pain with a trapped nerve in her spine, She was an active woman who liked walking a lot, But since this problem struck her she finds even walking a very short distance extremely painful , The Physiotherapist has referred her up to a further specialist, & her doctor who is most supportive has trebled the pain medication
I am holding the fort as regards housekeeping , cooking & caring for her --- Thanks Guys
Sincerely
Core -oil
I'm happy to offer my support and positive thoughts.
I've been in your wife's position, although my cause was a prolapsed disc impacting the sciatic nerve.
The pain was an almost unbearable throb interspersed with electric shock like symptoms whenever I moved to try to get some relief.
After a few weeks I became seriously depressed and was contemplating life in a wheelchair as it was affecting my life to such a huge extent.
I too was prescribed heavy doses of painkillers (oxycodone and oxycontin), but I soon found that they poorly named.
For me they didn't kill the pain, they just put me into a drugged state where I didn't care about it so much.
Chiropractic treatment didn't help and finally I opted to take the plunge and go for keyhole surgery.......which made a dramatic difference.
I still get lower back ache when I stand for too long, but no more leg pain and no more electric shocks!
I'm not sure what's available to you in the UK these days, but while surgery is a scary prospect, for me it was the only solution.
I'm in no position to second guess her doctor, but my experience with pain medication was that it put my life on hold, and the thought of that becoming permanent was what gave me the courage to go for the operation.
I hope you both find a solution, and please tell her that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel.
For anyone that's had bad back pain that caused them to lay on the floor for a few days, please know that bad as it is, it's nothing compared to what CoreOil's wife is suffering.
