Optical lens mounts

Very impressive large project! Good job.

Thanks Paul,
it was a fun project. Held 0.001” ID tolerance for the lenses. Measured them on the jig borer. Could see about a tenth where the chuck jaws distorted the part. If I were doing more I’d probably do pie jaws to eliminate the distortion. The 10EE really makes hitting tolerances easy, 3 equal cuts to finish. Definitely had to watch temperature and ran the finish cuts cold. Rough one evening, finish and rough the next one the following night for the bores. OD was not critical but they were +/_.005” anyway. Making the clamp rings was more difficult than I first expected. Parted from scrap side of stock. Then used the blue tape superglue trick sticking to the last scrap ring to face the back side and do the chamfer. Worked great but took a long time.
