I really don't know why cooter brown would knock b&s tapers. My first mill was a Gorton 9j #10 b&s taper.you can find anything you want,
It's probably at least 1/2 again as r8 . 5hp with gear driven x and y axis . It will eat a Bridgeport alive.
Thanks Ron from ohio

everyone has their likes, dislikes, and indifference.

must be kinda like Blondes, Red-Heads, & Brunets ;)

I like morse tapers, but not on a milling machine. a NMTB or CAT 30, 40 or50 is superior
it doesn't negate the usefulness of the MT taper due to my bias.

pitting a BP against the Gorton is not much of a match up, the BP can't compete

I just know that there are not alot of manufactures of B&S Taper tooling anymore and the ones that are left want gold bars for tool holders.... I'm not downing the guys here that are happy with it.... I'm just trying to inform the new guys who join to ask questions about the different possible options before they commit and regret it.....
