The photo is such a somber reminder of what they left behind, and why they went. I see a woman who lost her husband, and a child comforting mother not completely understanding the loss of a father.
Oh what a price they paid, and what a debt we owe. Remember a vet, we should also remember the family left behind, they paid more also.

Remember our veterans this Memorial Day by keeping them and other loved ones uppermost in your mind this weekend.
Great new documentary from the WWII foundation.
"The Seabees on Iwo Jima"
It's a MUST WATCH in my book!
Sobering account of the battle for Iwo Jima and the part the Seabees played in this crucial action.
Horrific and brutal combat footage, much of it in color.
I just watched in on PBS PassPort, If you have that, just search for the title.
It is broadcast live tonight, May 28th, 2023 on our local Iowa PBS stations at 10PM.
I do not know but it may also be available in other areas as well.
Awesome interviews and comments of combat veterans that survived this hellhole.
Must watch for the WWII history buff and a great way to remember "The Greatest Generation"
