Magnetic chucks.. do they pull out of true from the mag

not buying that, since it was flat for so long without the depression. Also it felt as smooth as a babies rear, now, the non-magnetic areas just make it feel wavy.. When I ground the chuck, I sprayed coolant using a pressurized pump up sprayer... it remained relatively cool...

But again, long after it was smooth, and now... it's not.. very confusing.
 
It is well known that when one has laminated materials and one trys to polish them across the laminates surface, the softer material polishes faster. Hence the final height is not the same. "dips" I suppose the best you can hope for is to polish at a very slow rate with very fine grit. I would guess the same principle applys to grinding on a magnetic chuck.
 
Perhaps something in the coolant is mildly corrosive to the aluminum and slowly eroded the surface of only those laminations?
