Hello,

This is my first post. Thanks for having me here.

I am in the market for a high-precision (better than 0.001" repeatability and accuracy), high-speed (>15000RPM) milling machine. I am looking at the following models but am open to others:

ACT, DMC-III
Roland MDX-540SA
Minitech CNC Mini-Mill/3 GX
Tormach PCNC 770

If anyone has feedback on any of these models I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks!

Will this be for production or prototyping?
What kind of things will you be making that require such close tolerances?

Just curious. :))

I don't know about the first 3, but Tormach has a pretty good reputation with hobyists and prototypers. Given your requirements, you might also keep an eye out for a used HAAS mini mill.

DMS:

Thanks, I've heard good things about Tormach as well. Can they really hold better than 0.001"? How well does that speeder work if used continuously and not just occasionally?

7HC:

Pretty much all for prototyping.

Thanks!

I don't know about the speeder attachment, or the accuracy of the 770. I'm assuming your working on very small things if you need that kind of speed and accuracy.

I did find this

Which shows a 24 hour continuous run cycle (or part of it anyway).

Tormach lists an accuracy of 0.0013, and a repeatability of 0.001, which is close to what you are asking, but maybe not close enough.
