Is this bronze

Hi gang....I recently obtained a piece of what I was told is bronze. I know there are different types of bronze out there, but the only type I've ever machined produced chips much like brass. This bronze produces long stringy strands and the color is more copper than what I've seen as bronze. I've attache a pic of the "chip" and the machined material. Any input would be greatly appreciated .

The only way to truly know is through a metallurgical test. But generally brass is more yellow and bronze will be more redish.

I'd guess silicon bronze, it does have a copper tint to it.

Hi Ben....yes, it looks very much like copper. In fact, once I started machined it I thought it was copper.
