I Think I Might Have Killed My DRO

Ken226 has it right. However, what happened is the small platform (best seen on the left end of the encoder as a small rectangle) is the part that broke off. The ball and spring were attached to that area and also came off.

The good news is Precision Matthews has a repair part in stock and I should be back in business soon.

Yea, I've been there. I keep a few spare scales on hand, just in case.

I've cannibalized parts from the spares a few times.
I completely replaced the DRO because both scales were building errors (accumulation errors), that fixed the Z axis, it is right on the money but the X seems to be worse, I am currently remounting the scale in an attempt to eliminate any scale to reader misalignment. Its a bit frustrating....
