Yesterday, I picked up a VN #12 and brought it home. I have a Bridgeport clone that is for regular duties but this one was the right price, Free. A supplier asked if I wanted it and I couldn't resist. It only came with the collet holder and one collet. One X axis handle is broken and there is a vise too.

Now I have to read up on this thing and probably restore it.

It looks great! Must be a newer unit. Could you show more detail on the feed motor? It looks like some sort of tensioner on the drive chain. My 12 doesn't have that and could use it.

I think it is but I haven't powered it up yet; not even tried to move the table. I've got a lot of projects on the go but this one is interesting.

Free! that's my favorite price. Looks like a nice solid machine. If you have all, or most of the hand wheel pieces it's probably fixable. Should be fun to watch you go through it. Nice score! Mike

Anyone else see a drive like that? I like the tensioner. Have you found the serial number? It looks like a recent mill. Free is really good!

The follow up pics make it look even better. That one hand wheel looks like it was repaired and then broken again, or a botched repair. Looking at the shaft it goes onto that should be an easy replacement if you are not too concerned with it looking factory original.

Arbor support!!
Looks like you might be missing the drawbar!
If accurate you might consider contacting Bob V (HM member).
He has an extra 5v draw bar and some collets and arbors.
He might be willing to cut a package deal.
