I can not figure out how to get proper thread pitch set

I was able to practice thread a piece of aluminum scrap twice for my first ever threading job.
They were not perfect, but they did fit and I was happy.
Here is one of the threads:

Nice job on fitting your first threads! It’s all downhill from here as you do more threading.

It will get easier and feel more natural the more you do it.
