i have a 14 in powermatic bandsaw. i want to cut "slabs" of apple sections to around 1 in thick the sections are from 10 to 15 in long. having a lot of trouble with the 3/8 6 tooth in the saw now. going to order new blade. what should i get. (going to be 1/2 in) 3 or 4 tooth; hook or skip. the sections are 8-10 in dia.??

I find 1/2" blades are fine on my 14+ Delta. Typically I use a 3 TPI hook tooth blade.

You need to purchase the largest (width) blade that you can fit in your saw, but still have the power to run it.

I HIGHLY recommend Highland Woodworking Wood Slicer blades. I run one of those on my 17" 2hp bandsaw. They are awsome.
That brings back memories. That was one advantage of living in Atlanta between the North Druid hills and Morningside areas, we used to be able to walk to Highland Hardware (now Highland Woodworking).
