HF Portable Bandsaw Stand (Horizontal?Vertical) - Improvements

I posted some information on this in another thread, but I've made some improvements so I thought it was worth a new post:


  • made a table for the vertical mode
  • tried out a narrower blade

I decided to purchase a narrower blade (1/4" width instead of 1/2" width) for my portable bandsaw, to see if that would be useful in cutting tighter curves. To be specific, I purchased a Magnate M44.875M14V10 M-42 Bi-metal Bandsaw Blade, 44-7/8" Long - 1/4" Width; 10-14 Variable Tooth (cost about $22). Long story short: My initial test was successful. It's too early to say how this will work long term, but I am quite happy with my first test. If anyone else has tried something like this, I'll be interested to hear about your experience.

Here's a picture of my initial test rough cutting around a template (dimensions of cut piece are about 3" x 1-1/2"), the material is 0.260" thick aluminum plate:
