Help With Dial Indicator Tip

I recent bought some button style tips for my Starret Dial indicator. The indicator accepts a male thread tip however the ones I got that are also Starett branded only have a female thread.

The ones you bought are for use with a Starret back plunger-type indicator and will not work on the typical AGD dial indicators. Can you contact the seller and return it?

Are both female and have the same thread size? Use a 4-48 threaded set screw, screwed halfway into each to "bridge the gap"

If I recall, it is a different pitch thread on the 196 dial indicator than the standard 4-48 thread as on all of the others.

This is the typical dial indicator contact point set that I have used on the Starrett Dial Indicators, these have the 4-48 threads. There are also less expensive knockoffs. The different points in the set can come in handy, I often will use the extended point, on on curve/round stock, the flat hat or the button.

Ill end up buying the Starret I haven't found any knockoff sets that have what I need which is a wide curved point.
