FWIW,

Why use just the shelves? I found old refrigerator and upright freezer (sometimes even old chest type freezer) makes great insulated storage units. I keep paint, garden chemicals, garden seeds, grease, oil, welding supplies, anything I don't want to freeze in them. Keeps this stuff out of sight from grandkids. Keeps from freezing in unheated garage/barn/shop. Would be easy enough to put small light bulb or other heat source inside, but so far I haven't needed to. For stuff that doesn't need to go inside, the top makes good out-of-the-way storage also.

Yes, I have 4 in use so far. Will end up with at least one more when our 20+ year old refrigerator dies.
