Smithy wants $200+ for their 8” faceplate. I was wanting to make my own. Im looking to use it as a dog drive only at the moment
I currently have a 6.30” dia X .300” thick cast piece I scavenged from a brake rotor hub. Im wondering if this is strong enough ?
I forgot to take a before picture but salvaged from this. View attachment 475963Then turn to this, View attachment 475964F785096A-482F-4C7A-8DFE-43657BD7AD4D.jpeg7BD015AD-925D-476B-B2E1-58F2EC7F732F.jpeg

Plenty strong enough- It'll stop a car
Cast iron is really only necessary for threaded spindles to prevent binding and galling
If the spindle is a flange design you can use steel or even aluminum

Did aluminum for the 4 jaw adapter plate.
