Easy improvement for your import lathe and mill

Handle replacement for your mill or lathe. One thing I have always hated about my import lathe and mill is the cheap handles on the feeds. They always hurt my hands if I am working for long periods of time and they work loose to easy. I learned on older bridgeports and southbends and the handles on them just have a better feel.

So recently I found on Enco's site nicer handles. http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INPDFF?PMPAGE=786&PMITEM=319-7678

My original handles were M8*1 I think. I ordered 3/8-16 for the new handles. This let me drill out the old threads with 5/16" and tap.

One lesson learned from this is lock or clamp the handles in place before drilling.

Broke a drill bit when the hand wheel spun.

Here are the 2 machines with the new handles. I used them for about 5 hours today. Made a huge difference. I used 9 handles and it took about an hour to make the change. Well worth the time and money.

This is the one I used everywhere except on the lathe compound. http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PARTPG=INLMKD&PMPXNO=3012748&PMAKA=990-3301
