Anyone here put I-Gaging scales on a Shop-Task 1720? Pictures and advice would be appreciated. I think I have a pretty good idea of what I need to do, but am looking around to see if there is a better way or pitfalls to avoid.
The machine should be level in the x-axis and y-axis; however, you can not mount the DRO according to the level. The DRO must travel exactly parallel to the saddle and table. For a device that is measuring to within .0002 the slightest angle between the ways of the machine and the DRO scale will result in a error in position.
I'm not familiar with that particular machine or those scales...
But here is a post with some pictures of how I mounted the scales for the DRO on my 3 in 1 ... HTH
Thanks guys, I needed a little visual reference to make sure I had the right ideas floating around in my head. When I am done it will be running Touch DRO, I figure the Igaging scales will let me get by until I can get better ones and also learn the wonders of digital readout!
