Drill Doctors....usefull?

I'm embarrassed to say but I don't have much experience with sharpening drills. I recently acquired a large number of drill bits and a good portion are in need of some rework. My question would be, are drill doctors or sharpening devices alike worth the money or should I find an additional 500 drills to practice on?
