Roughers are more delicate than they look, especially if they get a little dull, I have snapped off more than three. Looks like you ran into something feeding too fast, or tried to climb mill.
Funny I was just looking thru a tool catalog today enmll shopping. Marveling at how gawd awful expensive they get especially the 1"ers!! Sorry bout that. Might be worth it to sent to a sharpener they can shorten it 3/8" and regrind. Might be $50 to save a $200+ endmill assume its carbide.
I bet that Gorton mill didn't miss a beat and kept on ticking!
I did the same thing on a 3/4" endmill in one of the Gortons we used to own several years ago. Bad thing was I did it twice on the same setup back to back. Yeah, it sounds like three shot guns going off at the same time.
