Degreaser

What does everyone recommend to degrease a part and clean the chips out of holes or whatever. I will eventually have air in the shop again after Beryl came through and rearranged things. I do only manual machining so sometimes the part can be quite messy when I take it out of the milling vise.

Thanks in advance

Ted
Hey Ted, Carb Cleaner or the green can of break cleaner as long as you are careful with them. I use Awesome in a spray bottle for decreasing around the machine. You might consider buying a cheep harbor freight compressor for blowing stuff out, one of the little pancake compressors work well for that and are less than 100 bucks. Your in my old stomping grounds, hope you didn't have too much damage.

If this is to clean up oil from milling on a was clean part, mix dawn in a spray bottle.

It also works as coolant for aluminum as well as keeping mill clean.

You need to dry and oil table after use.

Greased lightening is also great stuff, buy the 5 gallon size at Lowes and use full strength.

My go to is sodium hydroxide degreaser. Not sure where to source it. I get it from our detail supplier

Thanks for the suggestions. Finally got the new compressor and have a lot of carb and break cleaner I use to clean paint spray guns. Kind of nasty stuff but the part will be clean for sure.
