Good morning all,
My G0750 grizzly lathe has a D1-5 spindle. I am looking to put a collet chuck on it and have found a used Bison 3944-5"-5-5c.
Looking at the Bison site i am unable to distinguish if that model fits a D1-5, it just shows the following
Any ideas?
Thanks, Joe

I would try and get clarification from the seller. A draw bar type collet closer may be more accurate.

It actually uses a chuck key to open and close the collet

I looked at the photo of that chuck on Bison's website and it appears to have three cam-lock pins. That would rule out the D1-5 as they have six pins. Of course, that's assuming that the photo is of the actual chuck and not just a stock photo.

i noticed that too and am getting ready to pull off my 3 jaw and do some measuring. I was curious if the 3 dowels would line up with just 3 on the lathe.

The photo from the seller shows 6, guess i need to drive the 50 miles and take a look

The picture is a D1-6. If the backplate is separate, Bison makes a D1-5 to replace it. Ajax sells them but I don't know at what price. Dave
