Here is the before and after restoration of my 1943 Craftsman, tagged by U.S. Army, $150 junk pile lathe. Sometimes I wish I had never bought it! But after initial cost and throwing another $1000 into the project it came out pretty nice. Been using it since 2021 and she runs smooth and quiet. Made many modifications since that time. Last pic is the initial project restoration completion. My most current interest is to add a DRO to the cross slide for counter the "cross slide slop" caused by years of wear. I ordered a DRO today from Amazon. Should anyone want to see the restoration you can see it at this forum link. https://www.hobby-machinist.com/threads/next-project-craftsman-101-07301-6-lathe.82028/

This is the DRO I have ordered. Gonna have to do a mod on the cross slide to be able to attach it. It's slide is too long and hope I can cut it down so it doesn't stick out the back of the too far. It's a 6" DRO but I suppose it means it will travel 6" in each direction. I want to cut it off for 3' or 4" in each direction.
