What is the drawbar thread for R-8 collets? Also does the slot on the side engage with a pin or setscrew in the spindle? Does that feature keep them from rotating when tightened or some other purpose? How hard are they to remove?
thanks

7/16-20. Yes. Keeps them from rotating, if the pin is present. Tap the drawbar with a hammer and they drop free.

Just a note, the pin only prevents them from rotating when tightening the drawbar because you need two hands to tighten everything (one on the spindle brake and the other on the wrench) but they are not meant to keep a tool from spinning in the taper during the cut. If you got into a crash that pin could shear off. It's not needed for operation, and I just find them a pain. Thankfully my mill doesn't take a collet that uses a pin.
