Simple, measure the minor diameter of the screw, (the bottom of the thread), find or make a round part with a slightly smaller diameter and place it in the end of the ball nut opposite of where the screw will exit, unscrew whilst keeping the blank tight against the screw this will retain the balls. Most nuts are shipped with a ball retaining insert. I have purchased 2 1/2" ball nuts that had simple cardboard shipping tubes as retainers. This is the ballscrew and nut I bought... yes they are chinese...but they feel really good...
So the ballnut was on the screw when I bought it. That said, I have never repacked the ballnut any links on how to do this?
What would you use to cut these with?

As far as reloading, put as many balls in as will fit, many have more then one ball set in the same nut meaning that it is essentially 2 nuts back to back.
